Cookies

What we store

takeapick.com sets no cookies of its own.

Instead of cookies, the site saves a few settings in your browser: colour scheme, your consent choice, spin length, sound, and optionally your list. It also keeps a copy of its own pages on your device so the picker can run without a network. Google Analytics may set its own cookies, and only after you choose Yes, I agree on our consent sheet.

Essential storage

Essential storage remembers preferences or legal choices you ask for. It does not need a prior analytics yes, because it only provides the service you requested.

We remember five essential settings:

  • Colour scheme, after you choose Light or Dark. Until then the page follows your system.
  • Your consent choice, after you tap Yes, I agree or No, thanks. Closing the sheet denies measurement for that visit without saving a choice.
  • Spin length, after you choose Short, Normal, or Long. Until then it stays on Long.
  • Sound on or off, and the volume, after you use the sound control. Until then sound stays off.
  • A copy of the pages and files needed to run the picker, so it still works if the connection drops. This is not a cookie, and it does not include your questions or list items.

Optional storage

Optional storage is off until you opt in, and it needs analytics consent.

We remember one optional setting:

  • Your list, so it is still there when you come back. Only if you agree to analytics and tick Remember my list on this device. Only a short list will fit, a few hundred options.

If you leave the box unticked, your options live in the tab and clear when you close it. Unticking the box deletes the saved list immediately.

Google Analytics

If you choose Yes, I agree on our consent sheet, Google Analytics may set cookies and use tiny tracking images, saved settings in your browser, and your IP address to measure how the site is used.

Google does not start measuring when you arrive. If you choose No, thanks or close the consent sheet, it stays that way and no measurement cookies are set.

After consent is granted, Google Analytics measures:

  • Page visits.
  • Which controls you use.
  • Approximate location derived from your IP address.
  • Device type, operating system, and browser version.

Measurement events never include the text of your options, the question you typed, or any information that could recreate your list. We have turned off Google's extra ad-tracking add-ons.

You can learn more about how Google processes information by reading their documentation:

Your choices

You can update or revoke your cookie choices at any time. Clicking the button below reopens the consent sheet.

Revoking your agreement stops further Google Analytics measurement for that session. Granting agreement lets Google start measuring.

You can also manage or clear cookies and saved settings through your browser settings. Clearing site data for takeapick.com removes your stored theme, your consent decision, your chosen spin length, your sound preference, any saved list options, and the cached pages.
